Description of Classes

History 101-102 (3 credits, 3 credits) *History of Western Civilization I-II* Examines the development of western civilization from ancient times to the present. The first semester ends with 1715; the second semester continues through modern times. Lecture 3 hours per week.
History 111-112 (3 credits, 3 credits) History of World Civilization I-II Surveys Asian, African, Latin American, and European civilizations from the ancient period to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.
History 121-122 (3 credits, 3 credits) United States History I-II Surveys United States history from its beginning to the present. Lecture 3 hours per week.


History 267 (3 credits) The Second World War Examines causes and consequences of the Second World War. Includes the rise of totalitarianism, American neutrality, military developments, the home fronts, diplomacy, and the decision to use the atomic bomb. Lecture 3 hours per week.
History 277 (3 credits) The American Experience in Vietnam Analyzes American involvement in Vietnam from World War I through the Nixon and Ford years. Includes Roosevelt's plan of trusteeship, the Geneva Conference, the American military role, and the search for peace. Lecture 3 hours per week.
