NRCC to offer Smart Board Technology Integration class for teachers
|New River Community College will offer a course in Smart Board Technology Integration for classroom teachers. The class will meet from 4:15 to 7 p.m. on Mondays from September 10 through November 5 at the Montgomery County Technology Center at 1180 North Franklin Street in Christiansburg. Additionally, 20 hours of online coursework is required.
This course is designed for teachers seeking to integrate Smart Notebook 11 into daily instruction. Participants will explore software that motivates and involves students to increase learning. Projects in this class will be enhanced lessons to fit teachers’ course content. Class attendance is mandatory and course objectives are aligned with the Virginia SOLs. Participants will have the opportunity to apply video, animation, audio and student response features, locate and use online resources to create lessons, link to websites and create lessons to share with others. Other major course topics include a discussion of the interactive white board (“Smartboard”) and learning to use YouTube and Discovery Streaming to obtain educational videos.
