NRCC to offer Children’s Literature class
|A ten-week online class in children’s literature will be offered by New River Community College during the summer semester, which begins Monday, May 20.
The course, taught by associate professor of English Megan Doney, surveys the history, development and genres of children’s literature, focusing on analysis of texts or literary qualities in terms of audience. Students will also examine the role of children’s literature in contemporary culture, comic books and graphic novels, and poetry.
This course may count for professional development points toward the renewal of a Virginia teaching license. Teachers are advised to consult their local jurisdictions for further details.
