Registration is open for an upcoming pharmacy technician training session offered by New River Community College.
The session will meet for six weeks beginning Aug. 22, and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The course teaches students information, techniques and procedures needed to assist the pharmacist in the delivery of pharmaceutical products and services. The main objective is to provide students with a working knowledge of most aspects of pharmacy in community and institutional practice settings.
Progressive learning takes place as new information and skill sets are studied throughout the course. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Virginia and be prepared to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.
Brenton Langston is the instructor for this program. He is licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions CPhT (National Licensure) and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
Financial assistance is available. Training and certification can be obtained for one-third of the total cost for qualified students through the Workforce Credential Grant (WCG). More information about the WCG is available at www.nr.edu/workforce.
