Bachelor's degree. Preparation in English, Math, Science, Social Studies or other subject area(s) consistent with the needs of specific teaching assignment(s).
Bachelor's degree with major in Education or Human Services preferred. Successful teaching experience and enthusiasm for teaching. Good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated competency in working with students from one or more of the following populations: adults seeking a high school diploma; students with basic skills deficiencies and other barriers to educational success; incarcerated individuals; general adult education. Ability to handle diversity in culture, values and experiences, and learning needs; be flexible and open to new strategies to promote learning; and encourage and support a diversity of learners.
Teach Adult Education courses. Responsible for academic skills assessment, contextualized lesson planning, and GED/Workforce Readiness classroom instruction; organization of education and other services to meet the needs of an individual in a manner that accelerates the educational and career advancement of the individual; and provision of students with encouragement, support, confidence and information to help achieve academic and career goals.
Hours: Flexible, weekdays only, days and evenings
Location: Floyd, Radford, Pulaski, Christiansburg
Dependent on academic qualifications and experience.
