New River Community College will offer several one-day workshops on Microsoft Office computer programs in March and April.
“Word: Part 2” will teach students to organize content using tables and charts, customize formats using styles and themes, and insert content using Quick Parts. The course will cover templates, building blocks, footnotes, indexes and mail merge. This workshop will be held on Friday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (class #12926).
“Excel: Part 3” will use features of Excel to perform advanced data analysis, collaborate on workbooks and automate workbook functionality. Students will create links to other workbooks, use 3-D references, consolidate data, use lookup functions, data validation, create Sparlines, map data, use Goal Seek and analysis tools and create macros. The workshop is scheduled Friday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (#12924).
“Word: Part 3” will cover how to use and manipulate images, and how to add visual interest with custom graphic elements. Students will collaborate on documents, track changes, merge changes and more advanced features. Students will learn to create and modify forms and automate tasks using macros. The workshop will be held Friday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (#12927).
All courses will be held at NRCC’s NRV Mall site in Christiansburg, room 143. Tuition is $115 per workshop, which will prepare individuals for Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
