Raft/Access Crisis Hotline

Free paraprofessional phone counseling services, Raft operates 4 p.m.-8 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours on the weekends. NRVCS case managers answer the phones during business hours. If you are in crisis or need someone to talk to, call Raft at 540-961-8400.


Women's Reource Center

The Women's Resource Center offers temporary emergency housing for adults and children who live in the New River Valley and are fleeing intimate partner violence. Community Health Centers of the New River Valley

Provides medical, dental, behavioral and preventive health services to everyone, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status. They now accept patients with Medicare or Medicaid, and with or without private insurance coverage. Patients who pay out of pocket are charged on a sliding scale, based on income levels. Free Clinic of Pulaski County

TimelyCare

TimelyCare is 24/7 telehealth services for New River Community College (NRCC) students to address common mental health conditions that can be safely diagnosed and treated remotely from anywhere in the United States. TimelyCare services are free to all NRCC students. Whether you're anxious or overwhelmed, you will be able to talk to a licensed provider from any web-enabled device--smartphone, laptop, or desktop. Licensed providers are available to offer mental health support via phone or secure video visits. There are three services available to NRCC students:

  • TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything at anytime
  • Scheduled Counseling: scheduled options to speak to a licensed counselor
  • Group Sessions: Weekly Guided Meditation and Yoga Group Sessions, plus specialized discussions throughout the year

Community Foundation of the New River Valley

The Community Foundation of the NRV offers several scholarship programs to graduating high school seniors and current college students. The deadline for scholarship applications is usually in February. For more information, visit https://cfnrv.org/scholarships/.


New River Community College Educational Foundation

The foundation awards scholarships up to $1,500 to support studies at NRCC. These awards are based on things such as financial need and academic achievement. Applications are available only online at http://www.nr.edu/foundation/ and the submission deadline is usually in February.
