Understanding of ACCE Policies

I understand ACCE, a private/public partnership, is funded on a year-to-year basis and is dependent upon the availability of program funds. If funding is available, and if all other program guidelines/criteria are met, ACCE will fund the tuition costs needed if financial aid is not available or does not adequately cover tuition. ACCE covers the cost of tuition for up to two years (60 credits). *

I understand ACCE DOES NOT cover the costs of text books/ebooks or supplies. *

I understand that ACCE will pay for up to nine (9) credits in developmental courses (if needed) during my first and second semesters. These credits must be completed successfully, or I must reimburse the program for any unsuccessful credits funded by ACCE. *

I understand that as an ACCE student I cannot accept a student loan. *

I understand I must enroll in a Financial Aid approved program of study at NRCC. * If you have not applied to NRCC please do so through the following link: https://apply.vccs.edu/oa/launch.action

I understand I must graduate from high school with a diploma and have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA. *

I understand once enrolled at New River Community College, I must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA to keep ACCE eligibility. *

I understand I must maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours during each semester while maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA. If I choose to take more than 15 credits, I will be responsible for the additional costs. If I do not meet these requirements in any given semester, I will no longer be eligible for ACCE and must reimburse the program for any unsuccessful credits funded by ACCE. *

I understand that I must take and pass a College Success Skills course (1 credit) during my first semester. If I do not pass this course, I must reimburse the program for any unsuccessful credits funded by ACCE, and I will no longer be eligible for ACCE. *

I understand if I withdraw from or fail any credits during the semester I must reimburse the program for the credits withdrawn from or failed by the end of that semester. If I do not reimburse the program by the end of that semester, I will no longer be eligible for ACCE. *

I understand that having a job will not take priority over my academics, community service, or any other ACCE related responsibilities. *

I understand the ONLY online/hybrid course I can take during the first semester is the College Success Skills course (1 credit) *

I understand I am required to attend a New River Community College New Student Orientation session. *

I understand I may be asked to attend a recognition ceremony, and that attendance is mandatory if scheduled. *

I understand that I must participate in NRCC's graduation ceremony. *

I understand that I must complete 80 hours of community service each year while in the ACCE program. * Details for completing your community service will be provided upon acceptance into ACCE. This is your commitment to provide volunteer service hours to Floyd County as a way of "giving back" to the community. Your tuition payment is NOT considered payment from the locality for the hours you volunteer.

I understand that my community service is assigned by my locality and is not managed nor approved by NRCC. * This your commitment to provide volunteer service hours to Floyd County as a way of "giving back" to the community. Your tuition payment is NOT considered payment from the locality for the hours you volunteer.

I understand that I must meet with my Student Services Advisor at least once each semester. *
