How to Get Started?

Before enrolling in any dual enrollment course, the following must be completed

  1. Complete and submit an application to New River Community College.
    How to Apply?
  2. Take the appropriate Virginia Placement Test (VPT) as needed or find out if you have qualifying ACT/PSAT/SAT scores to be exempt depending on the course. View eligibility requirements for transferable courses below:

    NRCC staff partners with high school personnel to provide VPT for 10th graders or any student that may be interested in dual enrollment. For students who are unavailable for the scheduled testing dates, testing can be provided at both the Dublin campus and the NRV Mall site locations before the August 1 deadline.   3. Complete and turn in your Parent Signature Form (PSF) to NRCC or to your school counselor.
    PSF is also provided at the end of the application.
  4. Contact your school counselor to determine what dual enrollment courses you may be eligible for.
